HYATT CENTRIC WAIKIKI BEACH CELEBRATES FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
Milestones, Industry Honors and Local Partnerships Mark Growth for Hotel in the Heart of Waikīkī
Honolulu, Hawai‘i – December 8, 2021 – Situated in the revitalized heart of Waikīkī and established to accommodate the needs of today’s traveler, the 230-room Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is celebrating its fifth anniversary.
In its first five years, the full-service lifestyle hotel has established a brand for sustainable, energy efficient operations, being a showcase for local arts and culture, and a central setting to enjoy the attractions, activities and allure of the world’s most famous beach resort. Conveniently located at the corner of Seaside and Kūhiō avenues with easily accessible retail and dining options on property, including Nordstrom Rack, Ice Monster, Starbuck’s Reserve, Duke’s Lane Market & Eatery, Spitfire Rotisserie & Flatbread, and Basalt Waikiki Restaurant. In addition to the multiple conveniences directly available to guests, the Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is just steps away from the two-mile stretch of beautiful beaches and ocean experiences of Waikīkī Beach.
“Despite the challenges that travel has faced these past couple of years, this important first milestone is a credit to our loyal customers, partners, staff and Waikīkī community, all of which have been instrumental in making our five-year journey a success,” said Richard Elliott, General Manager at Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach. “As we look ahead, Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach’s core values are the tenets that will continue to keep our brand thriving and appealing to the travelers seeking the quality experience we offer. We remain committed to providing genuine and personalized service to our guests and the community where we live, work and play.”
A highlight of Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach’s first five years is being honored with the Hawai‘i Green Business Award for three straight years. The distinguished award is presented annually by the State of Hawai‘i in recognition of businesses that operate in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach was recognized by the state for its commitment to advancing conservation efforts by minimizing the impacts of the hotel on the environment and contributing to Hawai‘i’s energy efficiency goal.
Another popular feature established by Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is providing visitors and residents with opportunities to embrace local and cultural experiences during their stay. Particularly noteworthy is the Hyatt Loves Local program, which underscores the hotel’s commitment to support local artists and the community. The hotel’s ongoing artwork collaboration with local artist Jack Soren features his mural and art displays that enhance the guest experience with a Hawaiian sense of place. In addition, each hotel room has a wall-sized photo of a taro plant that symbolizes the hotel’s connection to the land.
To help celebrate and perpetuate Hawaiian culture, guests are encouraged to participate in relaxing and enjoyable cultural activities, including lei-making lessons. When the hotel first opened, guests were able to take poi-making classes using taro grown on the property. The hotel has also been the backdrop for enjoying music of Hawai‘i, and serving as a home base for local ukulele virtuoso Taimane Gardner.
Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is situated on land owned by the Queen Emma Land Company and the hotel’s lease helps to support The Queen’s Health Systems efforts to provide quality health care to all of the people of Hawai‘i.
